Overview
Host-pathogen interaction in animals refers to the dynamic molecular and immunological exchange between an infectious agent and its animal host, including how pathogens establish infection and how the host mounts immune responses, mediated by signalling molecules, immune cells, and inflammatory pathways that determine the course and outcome of disease. Veterinary Healthcare is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing research on animal infection, immunity, and disease. Its contributions include a seroprevalence study of camel brucellosis in Ethiopia identifying associated risk factors, and an investigation of cytokine expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from cattle at different stages of natural Mycobacterium bovis infection, both illustrating how host immune responses interact with bacterial pathogens in livestock. The journal also covers related work on inflammation and oxidative stress in animal models. Readers interested in animal immunity, zoonotic and livestock infections, cytokine responses, and the pathogenesis of veterinary disease will find peer-reviewed, open-access studies relevant to host-pathogen interaction in animals.
