Overview

Schizophrenia is a mental illness characterized by a breakdown of thought processes, disruption of behavior, and difficulty in perceiving reality. Treatment for schizophrenia typically involves medication to help manage the symptoms of the disorder, as well as psychotherapy to help address underlying issues. There is a variety of medications available to treat schizophrenia, including antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, and other medications. These medications help control symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking and behavior, and agitation. They can also help prevent the development of further episodes of schizophrenia. Medication is an important part of treatment for schizophrenia, and when taken as prescribed, can be an effective way to manage and improve the symptoms of this serious mental illness.
