Overview
Renewable energy is energy generated from sources that are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy is important for tackling climate change and reducing air pollution, as it does not generate the greenhouse gas emissions and harmful pollutants that are associated with burning fossil fuels. It can also provide energy security and independence from imported fuels, and support local economic development through job creation. Renewable energy is becoming an increasingly popular, cost-effective and reliable option for electricity generation, heating, and transportation.
