Overview

Urology is the branch of medicine and surgery concerned with the urinary tract in both sexes and the male reproductive system. Urologists diagnose and treat conditions of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra, as well as the prostate, testes, and related structures, addressing problems such as urinary tract infections, kidney stones, urinary incontinence, benign prostatic enlargement, erectile dysfunction, and cancers of the urinary and male reproductive organs. The specialty spans medical management, minimally invasive endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques, and open surgery, and it works closely with nephrology, oncology, and transplantation.
