Overview
White blood cells, also known as leukocytes, are a key part of the body's immune system. They are responsible for defending the body against infection and other foreign substances. White blood cells attack and destroy bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens that enter the body. They also help to remove dead and damaged cells, aiding in the healing process. White blood cells are particularly important in the prevention and treatment of diseases such as cancer, and they play an important role in our overall health.
