Overview
Glutathione is a small protein composed of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamate and glycine. It is an essential molecule for the health of all cells, particularly in the liver, which produces most of the body's glutathione stores. It is involved in many biochemical reactions and is especially important for detoxification and the immune system. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant, helping to protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals. It is also important for a healthy inflammatory response, as well as liver, brain and skin health. Glutathione can be found in several foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and meats, and can also be taken as a supplement. Increasing glutathione levels in the body can improve overall health and well-being.
