Biography
Dr. Cristina Eguizabal is a researcher at the Biobizkaia Health Research Institute in Spain, where she leads investigations in cellular and regenerative medicine. She earned her degree in Biology and Biochemistry (1995–2000) and completed her PhD (2000–2006), followed by postdoctoral training at the Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge (2006–2008). She subsequently served as a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (2008–2013) before establishing her research group at the Basque Center of Transfusion and Human Tissues in 2013. Her work on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) therapy has been highly influential, with her 2019 publication on NK cells as effective sources for CAR therapy against CD19-positive leukemic cells cited over 106 times.
