Biography

Kei-ichiro Ishiguro is a Professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba University, in Chiba, Japan, where his research focuses on meiosis, chromosome dynamics, the cell cycle, and germ and stem cells. He earned his doctorate in physics from the University of Tokyo in 2000, completing his dissertation on V(D)J recombination under Professor Hitoshi Sakano. His career includes postdoctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, followed by positions at the University of Tokyo's Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences in the laboratory of Professor Yoshinori Watanabe, where he advanced from special academic researcher to assistant professor. His most-cited work, "The cohesin complex in mammalian meiosis" (2018), has garnered 131 citations, and he has authored over 53 indexed publications in the fields of chromosome biology and reproductive cell development.
