Biography
Dr. Eman Refaat Youness is an Assistant Professor of Medical Biochemistry at the National Research Centre, Giza, Egypt, specializing in oxidative stress, antioxidant activity, and disease pathogenesis. Her multidisciplinary research focuses on molecular and biochemical mechanisms underlying chronic conditions, including breast cancer, kidney injury (Alport Syndrome), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and cerebral ischemia. Dr. Youness employs her expertise to identify novel biomarkers such as NGAL and L-FABP for early diagnosis and to evaluate the protective role of various therapeutic agents and antioxidants. She earned her M.D. and M.Sc. in Medical Biochemistry from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, in 2009 and 1993, respectively. With over 17 indexed publications, her most-cited work examines the neuroprotective effects of low-dose anandamide in pentylenetetrazole-induced kindling in rats (2019).
